The film is noted for being the last film project to be approved by Walt Disney himself, as he died in late 1966, before the film was released.

TODAY, 60 YEARS AGO
60 years ago Walt Disney signs a contract that will change the face of entertainment for all time. The two-page document gives Walt Disney Incorporated the right and license to use Disney’s name for all commercial purposes. By signing this document, Walt will make possible the Disneyland theme park and later such TV series as Walt Disney Presents and The Wonderful World of Disney.

Walt Disney was nominated for 59 Academy Awards, won 22, and earned 4 honorary recognitions from the Academy.

Here we see Walt Disney, flying. Does he react with spinning around the room, cutting flips, and soaring out the door? No, he says “Get this stuff off of me!”
This is everyday stuff for Mr. Disney, folks. Everyday stuff.
Ten days ago I said happy birthday to the man who inspired me more than anyone. Today, we remember his passing forty six years ago. On December 15, 1966, the world lost a great man. Imagine living without Disney, imagine how different the world would be. You changed the lives of so many, Walt. Thank you for everything.
