This is the current official poster for the upcoming Disney film of Maleficent, to be released March 14, 2014. The film was rumored to be directed by Tim Burton, but will be directed by Robert Stromberg (Alice in Wonderland), produced by Don Hann (Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King) and written by Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast, Alice in Wonderland)

MALEFICENT OFFICIALLY HAS A PRINCE PHILLIP

Brenton Thwaited has been chosen to impersonate the classic figure of Prince Phillip in Disney’s project of Maleficent, the live version of Sleeping Beauty with the villainess’s point of view. This film will be protagonized by Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning. Also joining them in the cast will be Juno Temple, Imelda Staunton and Lesley Manville as the three fairies, Sharito Copley as King Stefan and Miranda Richardson as the queen.

Robert Stromberg is the new director for MALEFICIENT

After Tim Burton had to abandon the project for this Disney film because of lack of time, debutant director and production designer for Alice in Wonderland and Avatar Robert Stromberg will fill in his shoes.

The film Maleficient, starring Angelina Jolie, will be the story of Sleeping Beauty from the perspective of the villainess’ eyes, and will be premiered in 2013.
