RUBBER DUCK RACE AT DISNEYLAND PARK
Hundreds of rubber ducks raced around the world for a cause at the 5th annual “it’s a small world” duck race! Cast members sponsored and decorated the ducks to raise more than $1,800 for Make-A-Wish Orange County and the Inland Empire before Disneyland park opened for the day on May 2nd.
The cast fundraiser carries forward the attraction’s legacy of supporting children, dating back to the 1964-1965 New York World’s Fair when it was created in honor of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). Cast members waited anxiously to see which rubber duck would race through “it’s a small world” fastest.

Another reason why the best job ever is to work for Disney?
You can have special Disney events just for cast members and collect money for charity. Yes you heard right, just have a magical time and you will be helping others.
Two events as such happened recently.
On February 28th, 350 teams of cast members and employees from around The Walt Disney Company, along with family and friends, took part in this year’s Minnie’s Moonlit Madness. The event consisted of a Disney trivia-based quiz, followed by a scavenger hunt inside Disneyland park where four-person teams tested their music savvy under a “Soundsational” theme with a special catch: to complete 10 assignments by midnight while connected by rope! Even workers from the recent Dawaiian Disney Resort Aulani participated. How awesome can this be.
Also, days later, the lights of the Hyperion Theater at Disney California Adventure park shone brightly when more than 250 cast members participated in “Flashback”, an annual production where cast members produce and star in their own mini-musicals. Each year, four teams of cast members representing various areas of the Disneyland Resort perform for family and friends after nearly two months of practice and production. This tradition started in 1998 and more than $250,000 have been collected and donated over the past 15 years. This year’s event benefited the Boys & Girls Clubs of Anaheim and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County with $15,000 each!

FANTASY FAIRE AT DISNEYLAND PARK OPENS THIS SPRING
One of the main attractions in the all-new Fantasy Faire will be the Royal Hall, where beloved Disney royalty eagerly await your arrival at Disneyland Park!
The Royal Hall promises to be a truly special place, filled with rich layers of detail.
“After walking into our main entrance, you will first go through a garden-like setting before entering the reception hall,” said Michel Den Dulk, Creative Director of Fantasy Faire for Walt Disney Imagineering. “Once inside the Royal Hall, guests will discover a beautiful gothic interior with nice wallpaper, wall cresting, wood finishes and chandeliers.”
Passing through a series of spaces, including the Grand Hall, you’ll have the opportunity to meet as many as three Disney princesses, from classic stories such as “Cinderella” and “Sleeping Beauty.”

“The favorite aspect of the project for me personally would be that it’s right in the heart of Disneyland,” added Michel. “It’s going to be very charming, with a lot of detail and great new experiences for the park.”
We’ll all be able to see for ourselves when Fantasy Faire opens this spring.
