THE NEW FACES OF CINDERELLA AND LADY TREMAINE
Maleficent apparently started a new trend. Angelina Jolie bringing this character to life may have planted a seed in the desire for other famous ladies to portray fabulous villains. Now is the time for Cinderella to hit the big screen again, but as a live movie.
Cinderella is said to be played by Amanda Seyfried (Mean Girls, Mamma Mia) and the role of her evil stepmother, Lady Tremaine, is to be possibly portrayed by Cate Blanchett (Elizabeth I of England, Lord of the Rings). Currrently, the studios is in negotiations with the actress.
Although the story of Cinderella has been adapted many times for the big screen, it is the first attempt of the Walt Disney studios will be re-imagining its classic fairytale loyal to its 1950’s version. The release date has been set for 2015, and it will be produced by Simon Kinberg (X-Men series), directed by Mark Romanek (Never Let Me Go) and script by Chris Weitz (Twilight Saga: New Moon). The story illustrate Perrault’s story, and loyal to the Disney version, but with a twist more like a dramatic period film like The Duchess or The Other Boleyn Girl.
Sounds like a great project, Im looking forward to more info on the cast and filming.
